Middle of the week...we have made it to the middle of the week. I do not think I can accurately describe how much I didn't think we would make it here. Why? Well we started potty training Pierce over the weekend. I have put it off and put it off. I ignored the fact that he was ripping off his diaper after he peed, or would follow Ace into the bathroom and say "otay my turn". Ignored! Avoided it all like it was the plague. Again why? Because I am still currently wiping up urine from Ace. He is potty trained 100%. He just has a problem with the aiming aspect of it all. So now literally all I do all day long is wipe up pee. Pierce is getting it, and he is loving it. He loves his underwear! He loves the reward. Yes, I am one of those moms. You pee in the potty and not on the floor and you bet your cute underwear-ed butt you're getting an M&M or three. BUT here's the kicker, Ace has presented his case that he too pees in the potty, and he feels down right betrayed that he does the same thing and is not receiving the stadium size cheering section and colorful treat. He wants the damn happy ending too!
Oh and Avalon. Girl doesn't know what to think. She is just looking at us all like we have lost it. Why is my mom breaking into song and dance? What is with the outrageous amount of clapping going on in this house? And what is that overwhelming smell? Carpet cleaner...its carpet cleaner!

I really have no idea why I thought now was the best time to do this. I am going to blame hormones. Avalon has stopped breastfeeding. Just stopped about a week ago. I mean I tried, I was not ready to let go. But she was looking at me like...get that thing away from me. So I did, I shed a tear, I had a little separation anxiety to boot. And then after my milk was good and gone I slept without a bra! Whaaaaaat! Freedom! I got 99 problems but leaking boobs ain't one!
So I'll see you a non-house trained toddler and raise you a teething one year old as well. Surprise surprise Avalon has a set of molars harvesting in her swollen little drool filled mouth. Poor thing just can't seem to keep it together for more than five minutes. And since bad things usually come in threes, right? The husband has yet to set foot in this house before nine pm since Sunday. So Kelsey? Who's Kelsey? She has been replaced with a one woman cleaning crew. I am thinking about making business cards and everything.....

Tell me, how's your week? Anything new? Any potty training?

  1. Cheerios or fruit loops floating in the potty... works like a charm. Apparently peeing on something is really fun, and their aim improves dramatically! Trust me I have 3 boys!

    1. We did the cheerios when we taught Ace how to stand up and pee. But now we would just be wasting cereal. Haha!!

  2. Wow there is a lot happening here. Sounds like you could use a bottle or three of some wine and a mega pack of anti-bacterial wipes.

  3. Oh momma, I'm so sorry about the hormones. They are CRAY! No one warned me about that when we stopped nursing... I wrote a pretty depressing blog post about it today, ha! But you are super mom! Good luck with potty training :) I'm terrified for that day to come. Mostly because my boy mom friends just let their kids live outside and pull their pants down and pee on a tree. That ain't happenin' with Mia! But if I ever have a boy, I'm totally doing that. He can learn to aim in the toilet once he's mastered the sensation of having to pee, and HOLDING IT!

  5. You are a busy bee. Potty training was super easy with Emma and yeah I just bragged a little because I bet Maddie will be difficult. I don't see Maddie weaning anytime soon, her top teeth are finally coming in and that has been a little stressful. Lots of screaming. We're still co sleeping which will be ending next month, that makes me sad.

I'm always cleaning up pee after Mike has friends over, I don't think the aiming ever gets better. haha

  6. Kelsey, you are hilarious! This post had me rolling! If there is one thing about parenting I hate (well, vomit is the worst), it's potty training!! Glad you have two down now! Hope these last few days of the week are more amazing than you can imagine!

    1. Well 1 1/2 Pierce can't count as potty trained yet. My buff arms can now prove it thanks to all the carpet scrubbing. But he is getting it...I think ;)
