Let's read and do a giveaway!

Dec 3, 2014

I know I am not the only parent who is looking for a little variety in the nightly reading. I mean you can only read about trains, dinosaurs, and llamas for so long. So I was quite excited when this book arrived in our mail box. This House Needs A Mouse has been added into Ace's daily page flipping. And honestly I really enjoy it too. Chris even read it to him the other night and said "that is one of the better children's books". Seal of approval from the star parent is always a good thing.

But with this book it is more than that, Ace can actually relate to this book, which is why I think he likes it so much. See a few months ago there was in fact a very live mouse in this house. Chris attempted an eviction on the poor little thing, and threw him out in the cold. Well, not really threw, more like scooted him out with a broom. It wasn't that easy, and my jaw muscles hurt from laughing at the whole ordeal. But the mouse in fact was gone.....for a day or two.
He came back with a plan I suspect, because he was not so easy to catch the second time around. Ace liked the idea of the mouse in his house, until he saw him and then he was more like a dinosaur mouse that could very well eat him alive. We once again had to get rid of the mouse. We did. I will spare you the details. Ace stills talks about the mouse all the time. He announces it when we walk into his classroom. He loves to tell the tale as we read this book, "hey mom we had a mouse in our house too". The mouse in the book is much more helpful than the paper towel destroying bite size small animal we had. But mouse nonetheless!

I really am excited to be giving away a book to you, well maybe not you, but hopefully! So do the rafflecopter thing and win your kid, nephew, neighbor, or grandchild a book for Christmas!

You can also purchase the book from the direct website here, amazon, or barnes and noble.

  4. Thank you so much for the fun review! Your real mouse experience is too funny! Believe it or not, we had the same mouse problem for two years while my book was in the illustration phase! I will spare you the details, but I took the event as a sign. We could NOT get rid of this mouse! Keep in mind this was AFTER I wrote the story! I hope Ace continues to enjoy the book! Tell him I say, "Hello." And thank him for reading my book. C. Jeffrey Nunnally
