four wearable winter makeup trends

Jan 28, 2015

Sometimes I see makeup trends off the runway or in magazines and think, that is so pretty and artistic, but how in the world would I incorporate it into my uber glamorous preschool drop off red carpet? I love experimenting with makeup and finding how I can wear it without looking too overdone for an outing with the fam, but enough to fulfill my inner beauty addiction. I thought I would show you four of my favorite winter makeup trends, and how I to achieve them with my stamp of mom approval!

Downy Natural Skin (fresh faced)
This is a look that I love! That fresh faced, glowing skin, with just a hint of color. The key to this look is moisture, and my secret weapon is:
Here is how I do it:
- start off by moisturizing and putting on a primer.
- apply your foundation, I used Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation applied with a beauty blender.
- next apply your concealer, I like to make an upside down triangle under my eyes and extending out towards my nose. This gives that bright eyed look.
- set your foundation and concealer with a loose powder. I used Make Up Forever Super Matte.
- next apply your blush, I used a cream blush by Make Up For Ever, and just a light swipe of NARS Illuminator just above my cheekbones, here is an almost exact drugstore dupe.
- then pull out your setting spray. I love using this Mario Badescu Rose facial spray for this. And for $7 you can't ask for a better product. I spray all around my face to get a good amount of moisture.
- then I do my mascara and my brows, add a clear gloss and you are done! Bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Metallic Eyes
This one is super easy, and the color options for this are endless! Metallic's are everywhere, and in make up eye shadow is the easiest way to incorporate a little shimmer in your beauty routine.

- prep your lids with an eye shadow primer, this way the glitter from the shadow has something to stick too and doesn't crease. I used MAC Prep+Prime.
- next I pulled out my Naked2 pallet and used Chopper all over my lid, Snakebite in the crease, and Bootycall to blend near my brows.

Soft Pink Lips
Lipsticks are probably the easiest way to achieve a glamorous look with very little effort. A soft pink lip is gorgeous in the winter, but will carry you through the spring as well.

- I lined my lips with covergirl (my lip liner go-to), then used YSL Lipstick in Lingerie Pink, and finished it off with NARS Turkish Delight lip gloss.

Berry Lips
I mean can you resist a berry lip in winter? I think not. There are so many shades to try out from very subtle, to a dark cranberry. But they all just look so great against neutral tones, and maybe a little snow fall.

- again I lined my lips with Covergirl Liner in Mink, then applied YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in Pourpre In Touchable #2.

And there you have it, four wearable looks, day or night that are great for winter into spring!

  1. I wish I could do something more adventurous than the natural look. I seriously should have been a boy. I can't even get the eyeshadow right! I have however been experimenting with the lipstick lately. I'm loving the berry shades.
