Recent Beauty Buys

Mar 13, 2015

Oh the buys that are beauty, they might be my favorites. Obviously I love trying out new products. I will give anything a try. And last month was no different when it came to adding new products to the routine. I was looking for some specifics, like a lip plumper, new dry shampoo, and a concealer that matched my skin tone. All were found!
Avalon Organics Shampoo and Conditioner- I actually used to use this when we lived in Arizona and could buy it at Whole Foods. But since moving to two different states where there was not a Whole Foods I experimented with other hair cleansing formulas. Then I saw it at the Natural Pantry (for all my Anchorage dwelling people) while doing a rare grocery store run (Chris does the food shopping in this house). And THEN I saw it at the commissary (for all my military ladies). I love the peppermint smell, and the slight tingle it gives my scalp. The lavender is also really nice. It is an all natural formula so it does not get super foamy on your head, but it leaves a nice clean feeling. Two thumbs up!

Beyond The Zone Dry Shampoo- My beloved Batiste dry shampoo disappeared at Nordstrom's last month, one kind has since reappeared, but I was on the hunt for something new. I have seen this one so many times, and each time the person is raving about the volume it provides. I decided to try it out, and a believer I became! It absolutely helps give life to your second, third, dare I say fourth day without washed hair. It smells nice, and for the low low price of $8 you cannot go wrong.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer- Since dying my hair dark I have had to switch up my makeup routine a little. Most of my concealers are a shade or two lighter than my skin to give a more highlight effect. This is great with light hair, but I was looking kind of vampire-esque. I wanted something that perfectly matched my skin tone, and this was it! The applicator is so smooth, and I love that it is like a little sponge. A little goes a long way with this, which is also a plus.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara- I mentioned this in an earlier post, but I was sent a mystery sample from Popsugar and Sephora about a new mascara that was coming out. I tried it and became obsessed. I made that little sample tube work for every brush stroke. Finally the release date came and I snatched up two. This mascara is insane! It really does roll your lashes. No curler required. It makes then so thick and long, and I just love the result every time.

Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme- I am not one to shy away from a full lip. I am not talking about duck lips here, but a full pout is what I like. I have used many lip plumpers out there with little to no result. I came across this one and thought , what the hell, let's give it a go. It does the job my friends! It does give a tingle, but nothing too crazy. I put it on before my lipstick, and really like the fullness it brings out.

Nars Turkish Delight- This is such a staple lip gloss. It can be layered over any color and gives a nice frosted look. When layered over a pink lipstick it is simply gorgeous.

MAC Vegas Volt- How could I not buy a lipstick with my home town in the name? Vegas all the way! This lipstick is a gorgeous orange-coral, which is a great color for spring. If you are too nervous to go full on red, this is your next best color.

Tom Ford Pablo- Tom Ford lipsticks are definitely a splurge! But, an investment worth making if you happen to wear lipstick often. This is my second Tom Ford lipstick and I am a totally groupie. They are so creamy, and every color is so vibrant. Not to mention they last all day on your lips, coffee sip after coffee sip. Trust me. If you are looking for a nice gift for yourself, say for Mother's Day, add this to your list.

So there it is. What has been added to my beauty hoarding arsenal. I have already purchased a couple things this month that I am trying out. They are super out there and different, but I want to use them for a good month before I report back to you guys. I also picked up a few drugstore lipsticks that I loved, you can read about them here. And my haul from January here.

Have you bought anything recently worth a try? Friends don't let friends keep beauty secrets!

    1. I am a huge fan of Batiste, and they have different hair color shades. But this Beyond The Zone has proven to be a good one! And you can't go wrong with either...both $8!!
