Coffee! You all know my love affair with coffee runs deep! Well on this road trip it has gotten out of control. Simply for safety purposes is what I am telling myself. Ha! I am not one of those people that can sleep in the car. I might be able to shut my eyes for 15-20 minutes, but that's it. It drives Chris crazy. He is like....just go to sleep, I'm not going to kill us. But, I can't. And I think that is kind of a good thing. We have done a lot of driving at night, simply because it is easier on Odette. Well driving through the Yukon at night is no easy thing. There are no lights on the Alaska Highway, but you want to know what there is a lot of? ANIMALS!!! I lost count with the number of actual animals on the road that we had to stop for. Bison, moose, deer that scare the shit out of me as they dart out of the darkness without a care in the world. Porcupines! Those things move slowwww.......
So sleeping while a damn Jumanji remake is outside my window? No thanks.
My life line has been coffee only. I don't care what form it comes is, black, cream, no cream, old, cold, whatever! Safety is the name of the game.
So when I get a chance to enjoy a nice hot cup in the morning, before my children wake up, and most likely staring at some unreal view? Gotta capitalize on those opportunities. And Chris and I have had fun finding cool coffee spots along the way. Small towns are kind of my jam. I love seeing old run down buildings or houses, little local shops, and sometimes very interesting people. But! Finding a coffee shop is kind of great. I am not one for the gas station coffee, so I usually have Chris pull out his Jetboil on the side of the road and make me a pour over, you know, if we are hundreds of miles from the next town.
I know......I'm effing high maintenance even on a road trip.
