I feel like I haven't done a beauty post in years. When in reality it's been a couple months, but in virtual reality that is like years right? Probably wrong, but you get it. I love beauty products, I love makeup, and I am constantly trying new things. All the newness is not high-end brands, as I meet with my therapist who goes by the first name Target middle name Beauty, last name Aisle, roughly once a week. So there is always something new on my bathroom counter. Whether it makes it into the rotation is always a gamble. And then sometimes I splurge on just the right thing...now that is why we are here today. These are some new products that are continuing to live up to the hype. And let me tell you, it was hard to narrow it down to five, but I feel like these five are the essentials for anyone.
Let's do the damn thing.
Up first, the Artis Oval 10. I have been using this brush for a few months now, and I can say that my foundation routine cannot live without it. I was skeptical at first because it is a very large brush, and I just didn't know how the whole thing would go down. I was a cult follower of the beauty blender for the last five years. Religiously applying my makeup with that little sponge. But this brush put the beauty blender in a head lock and it wasn't pretty. It applies my foundation flawlessly, flawlessly I tell you. No lines, no creasing, just an even application. Not only that, but it absorbs much less product then the beauty blender because well, its not a sponge. And the best part is, it applies my foundation in about half the time. So quick and easy! Now, I do still pull out my beauty blender for highlighting and contouring. But I don't do all that hoopla everyday. So as I do with my clothing....cost per wear. And I use this daily, so money well spent!
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. This foundation has made all the top beauty lists for the last however many years, and I have always just said pass. Well, that was wrong. And the beauty magazines were right. This is the cake the icing and the candle here. Everything you want in a foundation. Coverage, longevity, color, application, and wear. All right here. I have always been a fan of Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, because that stuff is what photo dreams are made of. But it does feel a little heavy after awhile. Not the Armani. It feels light, but gives the same coverage. It's what I have been wearing in almost all my outfit/ makeup posts lately.
Tom Ford Lipsticks. Okay hear me out on this one. I know there are so many great very affordable lipsticks, as I own many of them, and love many of them. But a little over a year ago I decided to take the plunge and try a vibrant Tom Ford shade and, done. I was doomed after I wore it once. The formula is unmatched. It is moisturizing, long lasting, doesn't flake or settle in. It is perfect, and it comes with a hefty price tag for lipstick. So would I recommend that everyone splurge on it? No. But if you are like me and you wear lipstick just about everyday, and you know you will get some miles out of it, then yes. Get a shade that you wear often and rock it. I just picked up this one in Spanish Pink, but Nude Vanille is my nude of choice for right now, and if you are feeling daring, Pablo is what got my obsession started.
When it comes to concealer, everyone has a favorite. I go back and forth between Estee Lauder Double Wear, and this YSL Concealer. But I feel like I always like my makeup just a little bit more when I use this one. Maybe it is all in my head, I don't think it is, but it might be. This one is just so easy to apply, and it doesn't fade into my skin throughout the day. I use the lightest shade to conceal and highlight, and I don't feel like it makes me look like I just got out of a tanning bed and wore the goggles? You know what I mean. You know you've seen a good highlight go bad. That just doesn't happen with this one. And when it came time to buy a new one, I did it without hesitation. So, this is a must for me.
And finally, the product that I held out on for awhile. Truthfully I don't know why. I just kind of thought, a primer is a primer is a primer. But it's not. The Hourglass Primer is in a league of it's own. So much so, that I had to force Chris to let me put some on his face so he could understand what was happening here. Even he said "how does that work? It's magical". And it is. The way it smooths your face is pure insanity! And I would say that a primer is what people skip the most because they just don't know they should be using it, but you SHOULD!!! It is essential, especially if you live in any kind of humidity, a primer is the only thing your makeup has to stick to. So again, because I use this daily I am absolutely getting my moneys worth.
And there you have it. Skimp on the diapers and splurge on the makeup. Wait....that was bad advice.
Lets try that again, skimp on the......
Can't think of anything. But these are products that are worth the price tag.
