Well, this weekend was a rough one on the immune system. Chris and I were hurting! I mean it is hard taking care of four kids and two giant dogs on a normal basis, I feel like my head is constantly spinning. But then when my head is about to explode and my body feels like it got hit by a freight train, and my co-parent was hit with me....man. Let's just say the kids watched way too many movies, and lived off pineapple and strawberries that were already cut in the fridge.
BUT!! BUT!! Yesterday we woke up feeling about 60% better and vowed to get everyone out of the house. Saturday I took the boys to their little league tryouts, and wrapped myself in a blanket and sat far away from everyone. The second they were done I promised that no matter what I would take them to the park if they just gave me one more day to get it together. And you know they didn't forget it come yesterday morning!!
We headed downtown to our favorite park right on the riverwalk. Thanks to a little rain, and the super bowl, the park was completely empty! Which is basically like my dream come true! It gets even better, because after 15 minutes of being here someone and I won't mention any names but it is not someone over the age of seven, had to go to the bathroom. Of the number two variety. And if you ever questioned if my children were mine....they do not do public restrooms. It's either one with nature or the comfort of their own home. So we loaded back up...drove home....let them handle their business while forcing every other small bladder to be emptied, then headed back to the park!
AND IT WAS STILL EMPTY! I mean, miracle on top of parenting miracle happening here which is great because this park is so fun! I love all the things to climb on, and the kids have so much fun turning everything into a competition. They swear that Chris and I can't possibly do all the things because we "are so old".
On our way back to the park we stopped to get a Cold Buster or Medicine Ball from Starbucks! Have you had one? If you ever have a cold or the flu, force someone to bring it to you! It is like a hot cup of miracle tea magic. Chris and I flipped a coin to see who would go get one everyday since Friday. It is on their "secret menu" which I didn't know was a thing, but now doesn't seem so secret. Anyway, it soothes your throat and opens up those sinuses like a champ!
And yes, I just bombarded you with a stupid amount of iPhone pictures from one day at the park. But that is just how excited I am about kicking this sickness AND the fact that these four have stayed healthy! I have no idea how, I have no idea if it will last, all I do know is I am so thankful.
How was your weekend? I am sure it was filled with dips and cheese and all those delicious things. Hopefully a more accessible bathroom break, and wine? I missed my cheat day so I am thinking a mid week pizza and pinot will have to make up for it!
