I'm a planner. I think I have always been a planner. I need things visualized and on paper. I think this stems from growing up with a mom who ran her own business and had five kids and just looked like she was running in a million different directions. Planning for me gave me stability. Even if it was laying out my uniforms as a kid. My color choices for school were very limited, but I always felt so accomplished laying out my blue polo with my plaid skirt and some form of school appropriate footwear.
This very much carried on into college and work. I organized my closet into easy to throw on outfits. Or things that I knew went well together. I worked two jobs that were polar opposites. I worked at a horse tack & feed store, and a high end boutique in one of the hotels in Vegas. Pre-planned outfits were a lifesaver!
Obviously now, being a stay at home mom is much different for me, but I still have to get dressed. So I still outfit plan. It may not be as concrete as it once was, but it gives me peace of mind. Not to mention it is fun to put together outfits for the changing of seasons.
With the temps climbing and the increased amount of time spent outside, I also try and up my hydration! I think we all do right? Isn't that on everyones resolution list for the new year? Drink more water!! smartwater ® happens to be my hydration of choice, simply because you can taste how pure and crisp is it. Don't try and say all bottled water tastes the same... you know it doesn't.
So, water in hand I usually try and carve out some time during the week or weekend and plan some outfits. This is my process:
-Think about your week. Between kids activities, school meetings, Chris' work stuff, and just general everyday things, there are plenty of opportunities to get outfits ready.
-Check the weather. I can't tell you how many times I put on a cute sandal only for it to rain.
-Have options. I like to come up with a few different options for one item. Whether it is a new trendy piece, or something as simple as a white tee. I want a few things that pair well together, just in case I am not feeling something that day or plans change.
-Try everything on. This I know is tedious, but it takes out the frustration of "I have nothing to wear!!!" And seriously, it is frustrating to think something looks cute together, only to get it all on and run past a mirror thinking....what am I wearing! By that point you need to get out of the house and an outfit change may not be a timely option. So take the time to play dress up!
-Default to favorites. When in doubt, pull out some of your tried and true favorite outfits. Things that you know you feel confident and comfortable in. For me that is a white tee, denim, and a blazer.
Here is another thing you can plan.....water intake. I like to have water bottles everywhere. So I put one in my bag, in my car, on my nightstand, the list goes on. Because I can fill four kids' water bottles like a champ, but will for sure forget about myself. And then do I really want to share with them while we are out? These are the things you have to think about!
So put on one of your pre-planned outfits and head to Target! While you are there, pick up some smartwater. Look for the special spring display, or you can of course find it in your normal aisle of hydration, like me!

As promised from yesterday's post....another asymmetrical top! I know the suspense was just killing you. How did you even make it through your Monday? Well, I'll tell you how I made it through day one of the house being packed. Coffee....and four donuts. Then a nap on my couch. Why do I eat the shit food when I know I will regret it?
But....I kindly asked the movers to pack the playroom first, and I had to keep poking my head in to see the toys disappear. It was oddly satisfying! Moms you feel me right?
Okay, on to this outfit. I think this twist on the classic white blouse is a little easier to pull off then yesterday's asymmetrical number. I happen to prefer both because my style is always a little out of the box. But I kept this outfit pretty low key and let this blouse speak for itself. I mean, it has some good movement to it!
top: stylewe c/o // jeans: zara // hat: j.crew // shoes: target
This blouse will definitely be on repeat throughout the summer. I just see it pairing so well with some boyfriend shorts and wedges, or maybe even my favorite jorts!!
Just so much more room for activities! Or I guess in this case....food.

Last week felt like it was dragging on at a snails pace, and then of course the weekend flashes before my eyes! Chris made a quick trip to Savannah to secure everything with our house, and then was immediately thrown back into the craziness the second he walked back in the door. Of course I had all these grand plans to shampoo the couches, organize and separate everything we are keeping out from the kitchen, and take down every single thing on the walls. (Wow, my life is boring). But of course my children brought me right back to reality and all I got done was three loads of laundry and a coffee and donut run.
Chris swooped in to save the day, and took all the kids to the park, you know as the fun parent does. Moving is chaos no matter how frequently you do it, the end.
On to this outfit and my new favorite blouse! But seriously, this color blocked beauty just oozes spring trend goodness. So much so that Chris even said, "this might be my favorite outfit". I'm sorry...did you stutter sir?
The top is from StyleWe, and if you haven't checked out their selection of new arrivals I highly recommend that you pop on over. I know I am always happy to add another site into my online shopping rotation.
And because I know you are just dying for another outfit, come on back here tomorrow where I will style yet another asymmetrical top! Creature of habit right here. The next one is white, and silky, and fabulous! Gone with the wind fabulous.
Thank you to StyleWe for sponsoring this post.

Happiest of Fridays friends! This week....long? Exhausting? Never-ending? All of the above? How was it for you? I felt like we just had one thing on top of another. Which is to be expected I suppose when you are moving. Just trying to cram any and all appointments in. Safe to say I am ready for my alarm to not go off tomorrow morning. But how about some pictures from my camera roll this week? Truly I got nothin else for you!
-These two. Completely inseparable. Chris has been off for the most part this week, and there is just no one more excited than Odette. Chris was actually mentioning the other day that through all of our children at this age he has spent the most time with Odette, and it is so sad but true. This last year has been stressful on all of us with Chris in and out of courses, but when he is off he is off. There is no worry of the phone ringing or him getting called in for this or that. And Odette is just so attached now. I love it.
-Pierce got his new cast on this week, and man was that a process. But can I just say that modern technology is amazing. Amazing! All the different machines that were used to see the bone, and then determine the best way to let it heal....without surgery. It was so cool to see, in a very I never want to be back here doing this again kind of way. Pierce was so good while they were casting his hand. It was not easy because he had to keep his three fingers bent at a certain angle, while holding his wrist at the right angle as well. So after it all, he requested a stop at Starbucks for chocolate milk and chips. No way in hell I was saying no.
-Oh my baby Shameless! He literally makes my heart skip a beat, I am so in love with him. Great Danes are truly the goofiest dogs. He is part human part horse. He sits on the couch, like just takes a seat. It cracks me up, but really where else is he going to put his 120 pound body? Other than on my lap when I sit down.
-The heat is back in the south and we are loving it! I have realized that for all of our sanity it doesn't take much effort to make everyone happy. Just a short walk after school and before dinner to get some energy out, and things run a little smoother. Just a little, but I will take it.
-Odette is in such a funny stage right now. Getting into everything, but she has her own ideas about the world. Right now it is how she would like to eat her dinner, and who or what with. This is her current dinner routine. Invite all her friends to the table, and then eat on her horse. And for me I am like...as long as you are eating, cowgirl up!
-My sweet Caspian boy. My fearless protector. He scared the shit out of the UPS man the other day. So much so that yesterday when he dropped our packages off, he just left them on the edge of the patio! Ha! Caspian sounds incredibly scary, but he is a big love to us. With the heat I try and do 30 minutes of training/ playing in the morning and at night, or else I am pretty sure Caspian and Shameless would throw each other through the walls with their wrestling. Kind of like my kids.
That's it! That's all I got. I hope I didn't bore you to death with this one!
Have a great weekend!

Oh a good pair of jorts. Now I know that the term "jorts" is typically reserved for toddlers, and men, the latter being not so cute in them, but did you ever think you would see this denim trend pop up? Denim bermudas, or the 2017 version of jorts (jean shorts). Or in Chris' opinion, "you own a lot of ugly denim trends". Ha! Don't I though? But I don't discriminate when it comes to denim, and I always like pushing my style a little out of my comfort zone. I own plenty of denim shorts, but I think I might be more in love with their longer sibling.
blazer: vintage tadashi // tee: vince // shorts: hm // shoes: zara // bag: gucci // sunglasses: ray-ban
I mean, this could very well be the most mom-ish outfit I have ever put on. And I dig it. So simple, yet more put together than just a tee and jeans. And most of these pieces I have had in my closet for awhile. Throwing them all on together easily took me from errands to a field day meeting at school. Field day....remember those days?
It's crazy that school is so close to being over. How? I don't know if I am emotionally ready to have both my boys in school full time next year. I mean what will I do with myself with only two kids at home during the day (well, Avalon will do half days a couple days a week for pre-k)? Chris has already said many many times "do not even think about getting another dog".
He knows me so well.
I have a masters in creating chaos!

A look back to an outfit I wore over the weekend for some Easter related activities. I think I am ready for the weekend right about now. Or maybe I am not because after the weekend comes movers, and I am not sure we are fully prepared for all that. I still have my entire closet to pack. Even though the military basically takes care of all that, I like to pack everyone's closets. Especially mine. Not to mention I need to leave out a ton of clothes for everyone since we will be back and forth between Savannah and Columbus while Ace finishes school.
Because of Pierce's death defying stunts and recent injury, he is done with school. I mean it's only pre-k and I need to keep all eyes on this wild child! I swear, with his new cast on he thinks he is invincible. I am constantly yelling "NO don't jump off that!" "Please just sit." "Your cast is not a sword!". He always answers back "mom it's already broken!". I know!!!!
I slipped out for some solo shopping over the weekend as well. I had lots to pick up, but decided to make a pit stop at Target to checkout the Victoria Beckham line. Nothing for women was really my style, but the kids stuff is so cute! I grabbed the girls a few things, but sizes were limited! As I was looking I spotted this striped blouse and had to get it. I love a no fuss outfit, and knew immediately that I wanted to pair it with frayed denim and red pumps. But really, the outfit possibilities are endless with a striped blouse.
Here's just a little more proof that a broken hand is not phasing Pierce in the slightest. I had to laugh when they were casting him the other day and he had the team of doctors and nurses crying laughing. He is quite the ladies man and was flirting with the nurse. He said he "jumps off of things to impress the ladies" and then winked at her. I don't know where he gets this stuff, but it's pretty entertaining. If I had a dollar for every time I was told "oh you're in trouble with this one" I would have more than enough money to cover all his emergency room visits from now until he is 18. Ha!

Hello beautiful people! How was your weekend? I hope wonderful. It felt like this weekend was packed with a little bit of everything. Food, friends, and family pretty much sums it up! It was beautiful out, which made for some prime pre Easter egg hunting. I was there for the food, and to regulate the candy comsumption. You know me....always the fun sponge.
I did however want to have a little more fun with my outfit. I love a jumpsuit, that is no secret. But I wanted to switch it up a little bit and layer a crisp button up underneath. I think it gives it such a different feel, while keeping it classy. Adding these amazing Donald J Pliner mules is just icing on the style cake!
Mules and slides are everywhere right now for spring and summer, and I am all about a mom friendly shoe that is uniquely bold and comfortable. That basically describes the spring collection from Donald J Pliner. Bold, colorful, modern, and incredibly crafted! I am a shoe addict. It is always so hard for me to walk away from a cute pair of shoes. I generally try and pick shoes that I can see myself wearing even when the seasons and the trends change. A bold animal print is always one of those choices for me, it will just always be chic and add a little somethin' somethin' to your outfit.
My number one criteria for my own personal style is, just have fun with it. It may not always be on trend. People will either love it or hate it. And most of the time I am completely overdressed. But, I have the most fun in my closet mixing and matching and just putting a little bit of effort into myself. You know, apart from my usual top knot and large sunglasses routine.
Thank you to Donald J Pliner for partnering on this post! All opinions are of course my own. Be sure to check out more spring styles here!

And mama just wants a nap! But that is what long weekends are for, right? A little fun and then some relaxation? That is what I am hoping for after this crazy week. Good news is....Chris has officially graduated from all four courses that brought us to Fort Benning in the first place! The moving countdown can begin, and it feels like we have so much to do in the next two weeks. But we are pretty excited!
Since we lived here before, I feel like we have done all there is to do, which is a nice feeling when you move. Leaving Alaska was hard because there were so many things that we just didn't get around to doing, not that you could ever do everything in Alaska. It is just a wonderland of activities. But I already have a pretty good list of to-do's when we get to Savannah.
dress: old navy // shoes: forever 21 c/o
Avalon's dress: gap
Odette's dress: marimekko
And even though in these pictures the girls are the ones going at full speed, it is Pierce who took us for a pit stop at the ER the other day. Another broken hand....
The cliffs notes version: he jumped off his bunk bed. But don't think he hasn't attempted it again even in a cast. It hasn't slowed him down one bit, he is just pissed that playing video games just became a lot more difficult. I think this is just going to be par for the course with Pierce. He is wild! He is basically me, just a little boy version. And my mom could tell you what a dream I was to raise.
So I think a low key weekend is in order. What do you think? Maybe a little downtown coffee hang. Nothing that entices Pierce to leap into the air.
I hope you all have a wonderful Easter weekend! Keep those egg hunts nice and uncompetitive. I am thinking I will wrap Pierce's arm in bubble wrap so he doesn't knock someone out, all in the name of having the most eggs.

I'm sure your inbox has been flooded with all the sale emails, as has mine. Usually I try to ignore them because I spend enough time and money online......but.....some were just too good to pass up. So I of course had to round up some of my favorite items, I mean can you even call yourself a blogger if you don't? I have actually never once referred to myself as a blogger, so I guess that answer is yes! Anyhoo...let's shop!

I'd say, that on most weekends we always end up at the park at some point. Whether it is to let the kids get some energy out before we go out to eat. Or maybe we had something to do and really want to tire them out before we head home. Or maybe we just need to kill some time. That was the reason on Saturday. Chris and I dropped off both our cars to get serviced and detailed, and can I just tell you how much I love a courtesy car? Because I love them. New car smell, no crumbs on the floor, no random sticky substance that I put my hand on when crawling to the very back to buckle someone in....it's the small luxuries in life I'm telling you!
(don't worry Chris is just out of frame behind her)
So we did one big car seat switch-a-roo in the dealership parking lot and were on own way. It was a unanimous kid vote to head to the park. And it was a unanimous parental vote to grab coffee before that. Chris and I somehow thought it was a great idea to stay up super late the night before, me finishing 13 Reasons Why, and Chris going over his stock profiles with me. I was not paying attention at all, which isn't new. But then we slept in till almost 8 and had an appointment to drop off the cars at 9:30. So everyone was just running around, throwing bananas and apples to each other, while Chris was whipping up some eggs and I was shuffling kids in and out of the bathroom brushing teeth and hair.
jumpsuit: old navy (sold out, but this one is so cute! // denim vest: zara (also worn here) // sandals: report signature
What would a morning be without a little chaos? It wouldn't be a morning in this house, that's for sure!
It all worked out! The kids got to play and chase around a cat that seemed to need some attention. Not sure where the cat came from, it was not shy of people, and my children kept asking to bring in home. Which I had to get semi graphic as to what would probably happen to the cat should Caspian and Shameless ever see it. RIP to all the squirrels who lived in our backyard.
So, no cat but there was coffee, happy kids, and clean cars! What more can you ask for?
