our weekend: jekyll island

Jul 5, 2017

Is everyone trying to recover from the long weekend this morning? I didn't have a sip of wine, but I feel hungover. Activity hangover? Is that a thing? I think maybe that is just called tired. But, also the sign of a great weekend!

Chris had to work all day Saturday into Sunday so the kids asked me no less than 300 times when he would be home so we could go to the beach. So that was the plan, get to the beach. We decided to head south again and go to a beach on Jekyll Island. I love that Savannah is situated between so many amazing beaches. A short drive and you have your pick of the litter! Jekyll Island is simply beautiful! The town is such an amazing beach town, cute, clean, and ample parking for each beach (truly important!).

We parked at the Great Dunes beach and a short walk on their beautiful boardwalk and we were on the beach. I don't know if we just keep lucking out, or we are just willing to walk a little further, but there was not another umbrella in sight! Oh, and I forgot my memory card so all these pictures are coming to you from my trusty iPhone.

When I posted my beach get up on Instagram I got a ton of questions about my suit. Well, the bottoms are from Urban Outfitters, and if you ask me, they have the best selection of high waisted bottoms. The top is actually a sports bra from Old Navy! I didn't want to risk a wardrobe malfunction when I was boogie boarding with the boys, that is the last thing they or anyone else needs to see. So I went the sporty route. And the hat is from Nordstrom. Kind of a Rhythm Nation beach vibe if you ask me.

The kids LOVED this beach! We got there at low tide which was perfect for the girls to splash around and play, and my anxiety wasn't on high alert. By the time they were tired out and just wanted to play in the sand, the tide was coming back in and the boys got to jump on some waves.

If you are visiting Savannah, or are local to the area, check out this island. A small entry fee gets you on the island and there are so many things to do. We plan on coming back to hang out and visit the turtle center.

Yesterday we headed to South Carolina for the Fourth. I didn't forget my memory card for that, so I will post those pictures tomorrow! I hope you all had an amazing weekend, here's to a short week!

  6. I felt like garbage all day today. The bad food and the late nights and blah. Looks forward to getting back to reality in that regard ONLY.
